Desiring to be free of the endless expectations of his parents, Cinder rejected the marriage publicly and came out as trans in the same breath. Embarrassed by his behavior, his parents disowned their now son for his decision to break the engagement. Cinder had prepared for this— months before, under the guise of preparing for the wedding, he had already withdrawn enough funds to comfortably leave the family fortune behind.He left Hingashi and traveled to Eorzea in search of a new life free from any responsibilities and expectations. After Ishgard reopened her borders, Cinder spent time there learning the ins and outs of guns and rifles.
